kitesurfing/wingfoiling

Beginner Kitesurf Lesson with Wild Diamond, Gott Bay, Isle of Tiree Tiree is the perfect place to learn to kitesurf or wingfoil in Scotland! With similar conditions required for best learning in both sports, wingfoiling works well from 12mph – 20mph for beginners and kitesurfing from 17mph to around 25mph for best progress. These are conditions that Tiree has in abundance with the average windspeed year round being 17mph! Arguably the best spot is Gott bay on the East coast of the island for both sports. Gott bay has flat water and its shallow gradient means that you can find your feet for a reasonable distance from the beach. This allows for a safe beginners kitesurfing experience and an easy entry in and out of the water for foil sports with little to no shorebreak. The bay is exposed for wind and this provides consistent wind conditions which are favourable for all, regardless of your standard.

Kitesurfing & wing courses are structured around day long sessions (5 hours). The format is flexible for the most part with learning being achieved through repetitive practice of routines that we have generated to help students progress safely and quickly with the sport. No matter what you think that you may have difficulties with, we will be able to progress your kitesurfing. We recommend kitesuDSC_0232rfing & wing courses in May, June, September and early October. These months are the most reliable months for weather that is suitable for both sports. In the Summer the wind is less consistant and outside these periods, the water/air temperature is often too cold to offer comfortable learning. You can be lucky in the summer or other periods but these months give the best results from a coaching perspective. Give us a call to discuss your requirements and we may be able to tie you in on a course with others of a similar standard of even offer a 1:1 coaching option for rapid improvement!
